The Advanced Health Network began in 2011 as a non-profit called "LIBA" (Long Island Behavioral Alliance). The founding members, Family Service League, Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, the Mental Health Association of Nassau County and PSCH, sought to prepare for the coming of managed care in New York State. The non-profit arm focuses on advocacy, care coordination and population health.
In 2013 LIBA added an IPA (Independent Practice Association) and a MSO (Management Services Organization.
In 2014 LIBA rebranded itself as the Advanced Health Network (AHN) in order to highlight a focus on integrated healthcare as well as to demonstrate a regional focus that includes services on Long Island, and in New York City.
In 2015 AHN added 3 additional owners: Federation of Organizations, Options for Community Living and the Association for Mental Health and Wellness (MHAW).
